Quaestio is a reading group organized by and for English graduate students specializing in medieval or early modern literature at the University of Iowa. The group meets bi-monthly to discuss readings chosen by group members covering a wide variety of genres and topics such as romance, drama, poetry, folklore, medical treatises, epistolary, encyclopediae, and secondary critical work. Meetings take place in 469 EPB, unless indicated otherwise.

             The group prepares graduate students for meaningul academic work and, post-coursework, an environment in which conversation is encouraged and ideas exchanged. Members foster further reading and learning outside of the classroom environment, promote camaraderie among graduate students, and prepare graduate students for comprehensive exams and dissertation work in medieval and early modern literature. Meetings are also a place where writings may be peer-reviewed and conferences and other academic opportunities can be discussed.
